You can also practice gratitude on a daily basis to increase self-compassion and to maintain a healthy mindset.
Each day write down 1-3 things that went well for you today. Give the event a title. Then write down exactly what happened. Finally, include how this event made you feel at the time and how this event made you feel later.

Eat More Real Foods
Your local produce department is a good starting point. Also consider buying fresh vegetables from your local farmers. The Farmer’s Market is another great source for getting locally grown produce. Finally, you might also consider growing your own vegetables. Because of the rising expense of food, many people are starting to grow their own spinach, tomatoes and a host of vegetables. You can grow them from a bucket or you might find a space in your back yard. Start small and expand as needed. Share your excess with your local community or faith-based organization.
Healthy Cooking Methods
Being more intentional about making healthier lifestyle choices doesn’t have to be complicated.
Here are a few tips to help you cook with health in mind:
- Steam, bake, grill, braise, boil or microwave your foods
- Modify or eliminate recipes that include butter or ask you to deep fry or saute in animal fat.
- Avoid added oils and butter; use non-stick cookware instead.
- Don’t add salt to food as it is cooking.
- Remove chicken skin and trim the fat from meat.
- Eat more fish, which is high in protein, low in fats and loaded with essential omega-3 fatty acids.

A good diet can improve all aspects of life, from brain function to physical performance. In fact, food affects all your cells and organs.
You should aim to consume whole foods at least 80-90% of the time.
The term whole foods generally describe natural, unprocessed foods containing only one ingredient. If the product looks like it was made in a factory, then it’s probably not a whole food.
Water is another component of health that is often overlooked. A healthy person needs 30 to 50 ounces of fluid per day. Drinking fluids is crucial to staying healthy and maintaining the function of every system in your body, including your heart, brain, and muscles. Fluids carry nutrients to your cells, flush bacteria from your bladder, and prevent constipation.

Walk For Heart Health
Walking is one of the best exercises that you can do for your heart. Lose weight, lower blood pressure, and reduce stress when you walk this way.
Getting exercise through walking is as easy as lacing up your sneakers and hitting the pavement. Doing so will boost your health in several important ways.
Experts agree that any amount of walking is good for you, but to get the maximum benefits of walking, you need to log some mileage and increase your intensity. The minimum prescription for good health is 30 minutes of moderate intensity walking, five days per week. More is better, but you can get a significant portion of the health benefits of walking even with just that moderate amount.
Whether you walk or choose a different type of activity, it’s important to move more throughout the day.
It’s also important to choose an activity that you enjoy, so you will stick with it. Get a headset, play your favorites tunes and let’s get stepping. When possible, invite your friends, partner or children to join you. The more we connect with others on our wellness journey, the more meaningful and fun it will be.
